My story....

Portrait Shot.jpg

Louise Geary
MSc, PGCEdPsy

After completing my degree in Astrophysics I decided it was time for a change so I moved out of science and down to Berkhamsted where I took my first role in recruitment and instantly loved the challenge.

I spent 8 years in traditional recruitment roles, developing my own desk of permanent and contract technical positions, working in house and freelance. Eventually I found myself asking, "what's next?"

Coaching and tutoring has been part of my life for decades. From tutoring medical students in Physics and Maths to coaching senior IT consultants through the recruitment process. Watching people grow their confidence as they develop their skills has always been a passion, so it felt like a natural next step would be to combine my tutoring & coaching with my recruitment and employability knowledge.

I stepped sideways and developed my skills in employability training. As a personal challenge I studied Educational Psychology at the Institute of Education while professionally I focused on guiding people that were struggling with employment or preparing to step into the working world for the first time.

Now, through The Dacorum Recruitment Advisory, I am lucky enough to be able to combine both my love of careers & employability coaching with the fantastic challenge of developing the right recruitment process to find the perfect person for a role.

Testimonials

"After 6 years of taking time to have a family and working in a job that fit my life perfectly, I was really out of practice and unsure about what I wanted to do in terms of work, but knew a change was a must.

Louise was the safest pair of hands I could have put myself in and gave me the insight and confidence to seek roles that I would never have thought I would have been suitable for.

She is a fount of knowledge, with a wealth of experience in recruitment but her core interest is ensuring that you understand your value and the opportunities that are right for you, making sure you feel fulfilled in work.

Helping me rewrite my CV, supporting me in writing what felt like a 100 covering letters and coaching me to achieve my full potential, 8 weeks later and I have had three interviews and two job offers.

I would recommend her services in a heartbeat for anyone lacking confidence or unsure on what to do next and taking that leap of faith.
I am so glad we met!"

"Louise is so much more than a recruitment consultant. She helped me work out what I really wanted from my next role, what was important to me and how I could get excatly what I wanted.

Louise made me see my worth and value within the market, she guided and coached me in writing my CV and my LinkedIn profile.

When I found the role I wanted to apply for Louise helped me understand the language I should use and walked me through the jargon within the job advert so I could tailor my CV, my LinkedIn profile and my application. She coached me through the job interviews, what was needed and how to tie in that same jargon so I spoke their language.

I have been in logistics for over 15 years, I'm a senior leader and have lots of experience around interview, cvs etc, but without Louise's coaching and knowledge I would not be in my new role today.

Louise can support and help you through the very basics right up to major decisions on career changes, goals and aspirations."
